Applications must be filed electronically through the Institute’s online application system. Applications will open at midnight EST on January 15, 2019 and will close at 11:59pm EST on May 15, 2019. Recommendations will remain open through May 30, 2019. The selection process will be completed by July.
Candidates must have completed a doctorate or equivalent degree, and hold an academic position. They must be employed by a higher education or scientific research institution in Latin America, Africa or the Middle East and must be a citizen of a country from one of these regions. They must commit themselves to participate in both sessions.
The application comprises a curriculum vitae, a five-page description of the research project, a maximum of two letters of recommendation, and one writing sample in English, such as an article or book chapter.
Please note that the U.S. Immigration requires that all fellows selected for this program be able to demonstrate proof of fluency in English.
The online application will ask you to provide the names and email addresses for two people who will write reference letters for you. Once you have uploaded your completed application, the system will automatically send these people an email with instructions on how to submit their reference letters. We advise you to inform them of this in advance, so that they know to expect the instructions, and have sufficient time to prepare their letters.
